Charlotte Storrs Stoneware

Check out Seasons Nr. 2 Feb/Mar 2010 (now in stores).
I saw, read and fell in love.

This stoneware needs to be in my cupboard!
Simple love the pots with the akebia vine handles.

Charlotte Storrs was born in Holland and studied languages at Utrecht University. After working as an interpreter and translator, she pursued her love of music and obtained a conservatory diploma for violin in The Hague. She came to Britain to study at the Guildhall School of Music.

She studied ceramics in Chichester before her children were born, and more recently in Oxford with Graham Hudson . She works from a well equipped pottery in her garden in Culham and sells through shops, galleries and her website.

She makes functional stoneware, pots and dishes which can be used on a daily basis. Pots are fired to 1250 degrees in an electric kiln. She prefers to use muted, natural colours or white glaze. Decoration is limited to combing, faceting or using patterned ceramic rollers on the clay. Since visiting potters in Japan she likes to incorporate akebia vine in her work, imported from Japan. She is a member of the Oxfordshire Craft Guild.

BASIC AND NATURAL

Impassioned by furniture from the past, as well as natural materials, we, at Malvini create our own, contemporary furniture.
All our furniture is produced in our own workshop and is manufactured from massive wood, according to the classical method of furniture making.

Models are still drawn by hand, on scale, in order to achieve ideal proportions. Malvini only uses functional constructions, not ornamental ones.

Malvini prefers working with natural, hard-wearing materials, which give the furniture a rich and timeless look.

Each massive piece of furniture is sold in its natural and original state. The purpose is to give your furniture its very own history and to let time and circumstance deal with the process of weathering. In order to guarantee authenticity our furniture is branded.

Our furniture is used in modern interiors (as contrast) and of course timeless country interiors

A wave of natural and rough products has cought the eye of decorators and interior designers aswell as craftmanship!

Malvini is a Belgian product.
